On April 29, 2017 hundreds of volunteers will take action and participate in a variety of service projects throughout the community

Their common goal: Make Wilmington a Better Place to Live. Work On Wilmington seeks to energize the volunteer spirit in all of us by following the successful model active in more than 50 cities across the United States. Work On Wilmington works in partnership with community organizations and agencies to create meaningful, hands on service projects that improve quality of life and achieve tangible results.

Everything was accomplished and much more than we expected and we are so pleased that our project at NC Sorosis was accepted and completed by such great people and volunteers. Our membership is so pleased and very thankful that we have such wonderful dedicated people in our community. Please keep up your good work and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
— Elizabeth Jacobsen, 1st Vice President, NC Sorosis
From the many enthusiastic volunteers (I think we ended up with 93 total at Bradley Creek) to the generous donations of time, mulch and plants, your contributions and logistical work were amazing. We were able to accomplish all that we had set out to do. We are very appreciative of the Chamber’s and your employer’s support of this program and enabling you to dedicate your time to it.
— Ted Wilgis, NC Coastal Federation
I want to express our deepest appreciation for the help provided by Work On Wilmington … the project of extending our commemorative brick walk in the Railroad Heritage Square … was speedy and the results were all we had hoped for.
— Mark Koenig – Executive Director, Wilmington Railroad Museum
The Children and Teachers of Island Montessori Charter school are in a state of astonishment. With a few volunteers and 4 hours, the weeds were transformed into 2 amazing outdoor classrooms that the children will utilize every day. The classrooms were enhanced with 4 amazing planter boxes with a pebble border. We cannot express our pure gratitude enough on how amazing the area just outside the middle school classrooms has turned out . Thank you Work on Wilmington!
— Brian Corrigan, Head of School Island Montessori Charter School
THANK YOU! We now have a beautiful outside classroom, gorgeous landscaping and a fabulous raised bed veggie garden – all in 4 hours! Thanks to the Chamber for creating this terrific program. I can’t tell you what a difference it makes in the community.
