This is a space we’re using as outdoor classroom now, it’s an a place where kids can retreat from the typical noise and chaos of their homes and classrooms and be surrounded and inspired by beautifully showcased outdoor art and rows of thriving gardens. The photography class frequents the space, creative writing students, poetry classes, and sometimes we’ll just send students out there to meditate and have a peaceful little respite from the turmoil or stress of the day. On behalf of the many children we serve, DREAMS is very thankful to the Leadership Wilmington class of 2016, the Work on Wilmington initiative, and the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce for making this dream a reality for our students.
Everything was accomplished and much more than we expected and we are so pleased that our project at NC Sorosis was accepted and completed by such great people and volunteers. Our membership is so pleased and very thankful that we have such wonderful dedicated people in our community. Please keep up your good work and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
From the many enthusiastic volunteers (I think we ended up with 93 total at Bradley Creek) to the generous donations of time, mulch and plants, your contributions and logistical work were amazing. We were able to accomplish all that we had set out to do. We are very appreciative of the Chamber’s and your employer’s support of this program and enabling you to dedicate your time to it.
The Children and Teachers of Island Montessori Charter school are in a state of astonishment. With a few volunteers and 4 hours, the weeds were transformed into 2 amazing outdoor classrooms that the children will utilize every day. The classrooms were enhanced with 4 amazing planter boxes with a pebble border. We cannot express our pure gratitude enough on how amazing the area just outside the middle school classrooms has turned out . Thank you Work on Wilmington!
